Hey everyone. As you can see from the link below there are some pictures up from my time in Australia with ESP for you to check out. It was a lot of fun jamming with Eric, John and Karl at the gigs down under. Our schedule was very hectic, and only allowed for two days of rehearsal before heading out for the three gigs we did in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Though there were a few minor mishaps along the way, that's to be expected with any band trip. When all was said and done the three shows were a blast and all our fans and friends were great! We especially want to say thanks to Paul Drennan, who arranged the gigs, and his band STAND who opened the shows for us. Finally, fans have been asking when UNION is going to get to Australia. Well, we would love to do that and are definately looking into plans to bring the whole band over for some shows. Until then, you can all enjoy a personal "front row ticket" to hear the band when UNION's live album comes out!

UNION News Update
We caught up with Bruce again over the weekend and he had some more news and information to share with everyone.

Plans for the UNION Live album continue to solidify, with a target release date of the beginning of April. The guys are finalizing the artwork as you read this, and want to thank all the fans who have sent in photos from UNION's gigs in '98. While the band won't be able to individually credit everyone who sent something in, they do want to make sure all their fans know how much they appreciate the love and support. The guys are very proud of the record and feel it is a great representationof the band's on stage sound and feel. So, if you caught them in '98 here's your chance to re-live those memories. If you weren't able to see the guys then here's your own front row ticket to the UNION Live experience! The track listing is: Old Man Wise - Around Again - Heavy D - Jungle - Love (I Don't Need It Anymore) - Man In The Moon - I Walk Alone - Surrender - Pain Behind Your Eyes - Power To The Music - Tangerine - Acoustic bonus tracks: October Morning Wind - Hide Your Love Away.

UNION is definately planning a new studio album for 1999, and the album will be released on Talon Records. The guy who UNION initially hooked up with and who brought the band to Mayhem has now brought them with him to his new label at Talon. He's still behind the band 100% and plans for UNION's studio album and tour '99 are currently in the works. The guys are writing individually at this point and the album will contain all new UNION material. The guys hope to hit the studio sometime late spring, with a summer release and tour to follow.

Talon Records is also shooting for reissuing UNION's debut album sometime around April of this year. The reissue will include an additional bonus track, soon to be announced. The band is really happy about Talon's plans to reissue the debut album as it will make it more available for UNION fans across the country.

UNION Merchandise News! Bruce wanted fans to be sure and be on the lookout for the official UNION Merchandise page which is coming soon. Besides all the cool merchandise that the band had available on tour (such as stickers, guitar picks, shirts), the band will also have cool new merchandise for the fans. In particular, the hard to find Japanese UNION release (which contains the bonus track "For You" sung by Bruce) will be available through the UNION Merchandise page. The band will be accepting mail orders only (check, money order or cash - no credit cards), and you can email UNION99 for additional information.

Bruce also addressed the possibility of future touring gigs with ESP. He said that though there is nothing specific in the works at the moment, anything is possible. Though the album is currently available for direct mail order, he also said that plans are in the works to obtain distribution for both the US and Europe.

Bruce also had some additional comments about his proposed solo album. He said that though some of the initial ground work has been done, due to his committments with UNION he does not realistically expect to begin serious work on it until later in '99. He also said that while the album will be very guitar oriented, the material itself will be varied and representative of all Bruce's styles. Look for the album to contain some vocals from Bruce as well.

UNION will appear at the LA NAMM Convention Saturday (1/30) at 4:00pm. Though they are not planning on playing, they will be appearing at the ESP booth to meet fans, take pictures and sign autographs.

Finally, UNION is confirmed to appear at the annual Atlanta KISS Expo on Sunday, February 7, 1999. Though the band is not planning on playing a set at the expo, they will all be there to meet fans, take pictures and sign autographs. Bruce and his brother Bob will also be doing a Q&A session.

UNION News Update
The UNION Asylum caught up with Bruce Kulick yesterday to get the official word on some of the news and rumors circulating about him and the band lately. Here's what he had to say:

  • Paul Stanley Solo Album - Not true. Bruce is not working on a Paul solo album, and to his knowledge no such thing exists. The rumor apparently started spreading when something he said in Australia recently was MISquoted. What actually happened was that he was asked if he would ever work with Paul again, and he replied that IF Paul were to EVER do a solo ablum at some point in the FUTURE, then yes, he'd be happy to work with Paul again. He is NOT currently working on a Paul solo album.
  • UNION At NAMM - Bruce and UNION (John Corabi - Brent Fitz - James Hunting) will appear at the LA NAMM Convention Saturday (1/30) at 4:00pm. Though they are not planning on playing, they will be appearing at the ESP booth to meet fans and sign autographs.
  • UNION Live Album - Plans for the UNION Live album continue to solidify. Though the album still has not be officially named (some ideas are being kicked around), the tracks are set and include the following: Old Man Wise - Around Again - Heavy D - Jungle - Love (I Don't Need It Anymore) - Man In The Moon - I Walk Alone - Surrender - Pain Behind Your Eyes - Power To The Music - Tangerine - Acoustic bonus tracks: October Morning Wind - Hide Your Love Away. The alubm artwork is in the final stages of preparation, and the target release date is the beginning of April.
  • UNION At Atlanta KISS Expo - UNION is confirmed to appear at the annual Atlanta KISS Expo on Sunday, February 7, 1999. Though the band is not planning on playing a set at the expo, they will all be there to meet fans, take pictures and sign autographs. Bruce and his brother Bob will also be doing a Q&A session.
  • New UNION Studio Album - UNION is planning a new studio album for 1999. In fact, the guys are already all writing individually at this point. They hope to get together and start comparing notes and meshing things together toward the end of this month/beginning of February and then start jamming on things to see how they shake out. They are hoping to get into the studio with new material in April and are shooting for a June/July release date in time to support a summer tour in July/August. Of course, at this point NONE of these dates are set in stone and are only target dates the guys are shooting for.
  • UNION Debut Re-release - Bruce did say that the lable UNION is looking at for the new studio album also has ideas to re-release the band's debut album. If the first UNION album is re-released it will most likely be with some repackaging and a bonus track.
  • Bruce Kulick Solo Album - Bruce said plans for a solo album are still in the works, but that it is not in the immediate future. He does not anticipate beginning work on the album until "much later in '99" after the current UNION plans have unfolded.
